Two arrests made at BIA over possession of foreign currency ‘worth millions’

Two suspects have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport with Rs.80 million  worth of foreign currency allegedly in their possession.

Customs Media Spokesperson Sunil Jayarathne said the suspects were in possession of American dollars, and Riyals and other foreign currency. According to the spokesperson, the suspects were due to travel to Dubai.

A Sri Lankan businessman was also arrested at the BIA for allegedly attempting to smuggle a stock of Wallapatta out of the country.
