Victoria to enshrine renewable energy targets into law

VICTORIA’S renewable energy targets will be enshrined in law and two new solar farms will be built to power Melbourne’s trams.

Legislation to lock Victoria’s renewable target at 25 per cent by 2020 and 40 per cent by 2025 will be introduced into Parliament this week, Premier Daniel Andrews announced today.

A tender for 138MW of solar electricity to power Melbourne’s trams will also be opened.
