Virginia Tech senior wide receiver Cam Phillips broke the school record for receptions in a game with 14 on Saturday against East Carolina. He also had the most catches in the first half of a game this season with 11.
Phillips has 189 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. His second two scores went for 31 and 45 yards.
At about the 12-minute mark of the fourth quarter, Phillips had nearly as many receiving yards (189) as the rest of the Hokies receivers (199) combined.
Despite there being more than 11 minutes remaining, the senior likely won’t add to his totals because the Hokies are in control. After falling into a 10-point hole at the end of the first quarter, Virginia Tech scored 50 unanswered points and leads 57-17.
