Westport tech firm buys SurveyMonkey spinoff

Westport-based Imperium is merging with TrueSample, with the combined firm providing data quality, validation and anti-fraud applications for market research and e-commerce companies.

Imperium did not state transaction terms with TrueSample, which was sold off in 2013 by SurveyMonkey to private equity investors led by Five Peaks Capital Management which has its offices in New Canaan.

TrueSample licenses multiple systems that have helped market research firms confirm the identity of more than 100 million individuals participating in online surveys, to include through fingerprints, at annually rates ranging from $2,500 to $150,000. The company lists locations in Seattle, San Francisco and Boston.
