Tim Bradley Has No Doubt Who Pound-For-Pound Number One Is
Hall of Fame fighter turned analyst Tim Bradley was considered a top pound-for-pound fighter in his prime.
The male best in the world debate now centres on three fighters who have achieved undisputed status in two divisions. First to do so was Terence Crawford, who stopped Errol Spence Jr to take all four belts at welterweight after doing the same one division down.
Japan’s Naoya Inoue followed suit, securing all titles at both bantam and super-bantamweight while impressing with a mega knockout record for the smaller divisions.
Finally there was Oleksandr Usyk, who repeated his undisputed cruiserweight run by doing the same at heavyweight. With world title wins over two men considered the best of a generation, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, the Ukrainian’s ability to fight through adversity as the smaller man captured audiences worldwide.
So who does Bradley back for the number one spot? He told Pro Box TV that Usyk’s achievements trump the rest.
“I love Terence Crawford, he brings a ton of skill into the ring, but he’s been extremely inactive. I love Inoue as well. He’s done some phenomenal things at the lower weight classes…
But this right here man, you know, becoming undisputed at cruiserweight and going up to heavyweight and facing the guy that hasn’t been beaten in I don’t even know how many years, Tyson Fury, who I truly believe was a great heavyweight champion.
It’s unbelievable man, and nothing Terence Crawford has done in his career or nothing that Inoue has done in his career is greater than what Usyk has accomplished.”
Usyk’s rematch with Fury is set to take place on December 21 this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
