New finance internship programme bridges study and industry

The Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Ernst & Young (EY) Cyprus on Wednesday announced a strategic collaboration to introduce the Accelerated Internship Route.

The programme aims to provide undergraduate students with valuable industry experience through internship opportunities at EY Cyprus.

The Accelerated Internship Route is open to students enrolled in the BSc Commerce, Finance and Shipping, BSc Management, BSc Hotel and Tourism Management, and the newly introduced BSc Finance and Accounting programmes at Tepak.

Participants will have access to a range of internship placements at EY Cyprus, gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting.

The programme offers two internship options. The first is called the Long Internship while the latter is called the Summer Internship.

The Long Internship is designed for third- and fourth-year students, allowing them to join EY Cyprus on a part-time basis for a period lasting from September to January or from January to May each year, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.

The Summer Internship is targeted at second-year students and provides a one-month placement during either July or August.

Students participating in the Accelerated Internship Route will also be registered under the ACCA Accelerate scheme.

This will enable them to gain practical experience at EY Cyprus, which will be recognised as part of the professional experience requirements for obtaining the ACCA qualification.

Furthermore, students who successfully complete two Long Internships will be eligible to apply for full-time employment at EY Cyprus as Assistants Level 2.

This includes financial support for their professional training expenses required to attain the ACCA qualification.

The collaboration between Tepak, ACCA, and EY Cyprus is expected to bridge the gap between academic studies and professional practice, offering students a structured pathway to gain industry experience and advance their careers in finance, accounting, and management.
