Covid romance couple off to Queens Park after Paddo sale

The Paddington cottage sold for $4.9m, sources say.

Rowan Rundle, who married his Double Bay boutique owner boss Juliet Anderson three years ago after a Covid romance, has sold his Paddington cottage for a solid price.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom Oakleigh Cottage, on one of the historic suburb’s busiest streets and with no off-street parking, is understood to have fetched $4.9m via William Manning of McGrath and Evan Williams of Highland Double Bay Malouf, with Tom Penfold of Cohen Handler the buyer’s agent.

That’s a solid price in the current market, though the guide is known to have been in the $5m to $5.5m range.

None of the agents would comment when contacted, but like Rundle and Anderson’s Covid affair, which had many in the Eastern Suburbs talking, the sale has inspired chatter within the neighbourhood.

The Paddington home offers flexible living and dining zones with bespoke joinery.

Records show Rundle had bought the circa 1880 freestanding landmark double-fronted residence on a 184sqm block for $3.8m in 2022 but now he and his wife, who went from ‘Juliet Anderson Schiff’ to ‘Juliet Anderson Rundle’ after a low-key wedding and romantic honeymoon overseas, are understood to be off to Queens Park.

They’re believed to be heading to the three-bedroom, three-bathroom home on a 400sqm block that records show Rundle bought last August for $5.1m.

That has been rented out for $1650 per week since last September.

The agent he bought it through had tried to sell Rundle’s Paddington cottage last October without success.

Despite the busy street and lack of parking, the Paddington property had many other fine attributes, such as the decent-sized block, the private north-facing backyard, the flexible living and entertaining zones with bespoke joinery, the marble kitchen and designer bathrooms.

The 2023 wedding had apparently taken a few people by surprise, including Juliet’s former husband, the Texan financier Steven Denham Schiff.

He reportedly only found out about the nuptials from friends days before it took place.

It had been reported in 2020 that Anderson (nee Schiff) and her best friend’s husband, Rundle, who worked together at her monogramming shop The Monogram Mode, had started seeing each other while still married.

Schiff, a mother of two daughters, previously worked in real estate in Beverly Hills and also appeared on Million Dollar Listing in the US.
