Corrie’s Antony Cotton shares behind-the-scenes insight of famous property

Loyal fans of the ITV soap will know that the fun-filled house has always been a hive of activity, with friends and family regularly moving in or out of the much-loved home. Over the years, fans have often wondered how big the number 11 actually is.
Now, the 48-year-old actor has finally lifted the lid on the real size of the family home in an interview with Daily Star and other press. He told us: “The Grimshaw’s house has always specifically been [busy].

“In its DNA and blueprint, Eileen’s house should always be mad a busy and filled with people. I think Tony Woods said we should always be wondering where did they sleep?
“Well, the actual answer is it has three bedroom and a front parlour. So that’s the technical answer to that question.”
He proudly boasted: “But the fact that people still say, ‘How many rooms are in that house? How many people live in that house?’ means that [we’re doing something right].
“The remit in 2003 mean that the house should be a full, mad house, so that’s still going. We currently have me, Eileen, George, Mary, now Dylan, Todd.”
It comes as his character Sean Tully embarks on a heartbreaking storyline where he desperate tries to pull his son Dylan Wilson (played by Liam McCheyne) out of a cruel bullying gang at school. Over the past few months, ITV fans have been glued to their screens as school bully Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) has wreaked havoc at Weatherfield High School.
Viewers have watched Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) and Dylan be terrorised by the terrifying high schooler ever since he arrived on the Street. After months of bullying his fellow students, Mason has built up quite a reputation for himself both inside and outside the school grounds.
Tensions have been rising between Dylan and Mason as Liam takes a dark turn after being bullied every day. The soap star went on to explain the importance of having a strong family support system when tackling a difficult storyline like this.

Antony explained: “There is a big full house, which means when you do a story like this, it’s never just you and them. Especially with Sean, our house is always involving Eileen which now by proxy involves George.
“So they fact that we’re doing this story and with my favourite people, you know Rita Sullivan and Tony Maudsley [is brilliant]. Because I’ve known them for years. It’s a thrill.
“I obviously adore Liam, but to be doing it with other people like Rita who I love the bones of, and Tony Maudsley is dreamy for me because it’s working with my favourite people.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
