Property fire breaks out near Truro roundabout
A property fire has broken out in Truro, emergency services have confirmed.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the scene in Waterloo, near the Trafalgar roundabout in the city centre, at about midday.
It said a total of six appliances were sent to the scene, and that police and ambulance personnel were also in attendance.
Fire service incident commander Andy Hitchens said everyone had been accounted for.
He said: “The crews did a very good job from stopping it from spreading to adjacent properties.
“Fortunately, the residents themselves were not at home at the time.
“We did believe at the time there was suspicion of persons reported, but, thankfully, the occupant is safe and well.”
Mr Hitchens said the residents were being supported for accommodation by Cornwall Council.
A full fire investigation is to take place to determine the cause.
