Arsenal willing to make ‘million-dollar effort’ to secure Barcelona summer transfer

Arsenal are reportedly looking at a deal to sign Barcelona forward Raphinha. The Gunners have made two new signings so far this summer, with goalkeepers Tommy Setford arriving from Ajax and Lucas Nygaard from FC Nordsjaelland.

Both players will link up with Arsenal’s academy set-up, and the wait goes on for a new first-team player to be signed. Mikel Arteta is currently in the United States with his Arsenal squad for their pre-season tour across the Atlantic. Arteta will be busy assessing his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign, which begins next month at home to Wolves.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in several potential new signings this summer. Reports in Spain have now claimed that Raphinha is a target for the Gunners.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Arsenal are willing to make a “multi-million dollar effort” to sign Raphinha. However, it has not been stated how much the Gunners would be prepared to bid to try and sign the former Leeds United forward.

The report claims that Barcelona would demand a fee worth €50million (£42million) to sanction Raphinha’s exit this summer. It was only in 2022 that the La Liga giants agreed a deal worth up to £55 million with Leeds to sign the Brazilian, and now it seems Barcelona are ready to cash in on the winger.

Arsenal are understood to be in the market for a versatile forward who can play across multiple positions, including striker and winger. Raphinha is one of the latest players to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
