A case of electronic fraud is being investigated after a Limassol online services company reported that 176,580 cryptocurrencies had been stolen from its accounts.

Police are investigating the complaint by the company’s director after an email was sent to the company’s computers on Thursday, inviting employees to follow a specific link. An employee of the company allegedly did just that, resulting in the transfer of cryptocurrencies from the company’s account.

In total, 176,580 cryptocurrencies appear to have been transferred from the company’s portfolio.

The case was reported to the authorities on Friday, and the Limassol financial crime investigation unit is investigating.
