The new appointment bolsters the firm’s regional presence

Property consultancy BTG Eddisons, part of financial and real estate advisory group BTG, has appointed Ben Hartley as director in its fast-growing valuations team, strengthening its presence across the Midlands.

Based in the BTG Birmingham office, Ben brings more than two decades of experience from roles at commercial property agents and chartered surveyors as well as the world’s largest banks.

Ben, who will be part of a 100-strong BTG Eddisons valuations team across the UK, will lead the Midlands property valuations offering for both commercial and residential sectors. His specialisms include secured lending valuations, expert witness advice and local authority asset valuations.

The addition follows a series of new appointments and promotions at the Birmingham office of BTG in the past 12 months. In 2026 alone, Ben Inshaw has joined as director in forensics and risk, Sukh Somal has been promoted to director in restructuring, having joined the firm in 2023, and three graduates have been taken on to deal with the growth across restructuring and insolvency.

Phil Deakin, head of valuations at BTG Eddisons, said: “It’s great to welcome an outstanding colleague like Ben to the team. He brings significant experience and deep knowledge of the Midlands market. Ben will provide a focal point around which we intend to increase our Birmingham presence across a range of disciplines. This is the next major milestone in our impressive growth trajectory.

“We are seeing ever-increasing demand for high-quality valuation advice across both commercial and residential sectors, and senior appointments like this are key to supporting that growth and continuing to enhance our service to clients.”

Craig Povey, partner at BTG for the Midlands region, said: Ben’s arrival means we are adding property valuations expertise to the team at a time when clients need his knowledge to consider refinance, sales and the next steps for their business. Having access to expertise across restructuring, financial advisory, forensics, valuations and real estate for clients across the Midlands is a sign of the growth that we are experiencing in the region.

“Our Birmingham offices have increased significantly in number and range in recent years, and this expansion is very much supported by BTG colleagues across the UK who we work with. It is a very exciting time to be part of BTG and it is great to have Ben on board to be a part of that.”

Ben Hartley, director at BTG Eddisons, said of his appointment:BTG Eddisons has built a strong reputation for delivering clear, commercially focused advice, and that was a major attraction for me in making this move.

“There is a real opportunity to further develop client relationships across the Midlands, and I’m looking forward to playing a hands-on role in supporting a broad range of valuation instructions across the region.”

One of the UK’s fastest growing property consultancies, earlier this year Eddisons rebranded to BTG Eddisons, giving clients greater access to the financial and real estate advisory services across BTG, formerly known as Begbies Traynor Group.
