Former Labour Shadow Minister Stephen Pound has praised GB News viewers for their messages to The Princess of Wales and said: “This is what the BBC should be doing.”

GB News viewers shared their heartfelt messages of love and support for The Princess of Wales after a tough week.

The royal released a new photo taken by Prince William to mark Mother’s Day, posing with their three children Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.

Taking to social media, Princess Kate confirmed that she was the one who had edited the photo and apologised for any “confusion” caused by the mistakes.

The photoshopped image caused more speculation and GB News viewers have told the future Queen to “ignore the nonsense.”

Speaking on GB News, Pound said: “There is a really good news story today. GB News is doing what the BBC should have done but didn’t.

“That is sending this best wishes to Kate. Kate Middleton is a good girl from West London.

“I just love this idea that people on this channel and on this program are sending their best wishes.

“That is one of the things that makes this country great. The fact that we can actually do that and we are not ashamed of showing some emotion.

“There is a dark side but there is also a bit of light.”

The Princess of Wales is expected to return to her royal duties after Easter. In January it was announced that she would be admitted into the hospital for a “planned abdominal procedure.”

The Mother’s Day snap was the first time that fans had heard directly from Kate since the operation. Kensington Palace previously reaffirmed Kate’s recovery timeline through a statement.

They said: “We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant.”

Speculation was rife at the time due to Prince William unexpectedly pulling out of a memorial service for his godfather due to “personal reasons”.To avoid any speculation, the Palace quickly announced that Kate was “doing well” in her recovery.

Prince William has also quietly dispelled all the rumours regarding Kate’s health. A spokesperson for the Prince of Wales said: “His focus is on his work and not on social media.”
