Sometimes it can be fun to dream about the types of homes we would own if we won the lottery or suddenly fell into wealth. One man who could give us some inspiration is Jeff Bezos — after all, he’s one of the richest men in the world. In fact, according to Forbes, the Amazon founder has a net worth above $200 billion.

With money like that, Bezos can definitely afford some fancy digs. According to the Land Report, he is the 25th-largest landowner in the United States. Bezos has at least 420,000 acres to his name.

Setting Up Shop in Seattle

Let’s start with a city often associated with Bezos, who said he’s lived in Seattle longer than any other place. According to Business Insider, Bezos owns eight properties in Seattle. His real estate empire there is reportedly worth as much as $190 million.

Bezos paid $10 million in 1998 for a 5.3-acre property in the wealthy Seattle suburb of Medina — a place that is home to Bill Gates and tech entrepreneurs. In 2010, he paid $45 million on an estate next door. In 2015, he bought a $3.9 million property across the street.

NYC Is Next, Then Miami and More

Those prices are far from the highest amounts Bezos has paid for homes. In fact, some of his purchases have broken records. For instance, in 2019, he paid about $80 million for three adjacent apartments in New York City. It was the most expensive real estate deal south of Manhattan’s 42nd Street. The next year, he spent $165 million for the nine-acre Warner Estate in Beverly Hills– the most expensive home ever sold at the time in California’s history.

In recent years, Bezos has focused his real estate purchases in Florida. He has three properties in Indian Creek Village — an island off the coast of Miami known as the “billionaire bunker,” as Business Insider detailed. In Miami, Bezos spent $68 million on a waterfront mansion, paid $79 million for the mansion next door and made a third purchase of $90 million for a six-bedroom home.

Over the years, Bezos has purchased quite a few other homes outside of Seattle and Miami. He has picked up a ranch in Texas and homes in Washington state, Beverly Hills and Washington, D.C.
