Dollar’s Labour candidate promises energy bill reductions

Graeme Downie promoted Labour’s Green Prosperity Plan which aims to make paying the energy bill easier for families while also bringing jobs to the local community.

The plan is part of Labour’s grand plan to cut energy bills and make Britain energy independent.

Visiting the former Longannet Power Station near Kincardine, Mr Downie said: “Labour’s Green Prosperity Plan is about tackling the climate crisis while cutting bills for families and investing in good jobs in Dunfermlie and Dollar.

“With the SNP opposing a proper windfall tax on oil and gas companies and, along with their coalition partners the Scottish Greens, rolling back on its climate commitments, it is clear the Labour Party is the only hope we have to tackle climate change.

“There are so many opportunities for our area to lead on green prosperity, from the site of the former Longannet Generating Station and the cluster of hi-tech companies in Rosyth to the culture, history, skills and business community in the new city of Dunfermline which make it ripe for investment and growth.”

Labour hope to make its plan a reality by delivering more than 50,000 jobs in Scotland, creating Great British Energy and basing it in Scotland, and launching a Warm Homes Plan to help upgrade hundreds of thousands of homes in the country.
