Fake Currency: 2 sentenced in fake currency case | Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: The special NIA court at Panchkula on Friday sentenced two persons to varied degrees of imprisonment in a case related to recovery of fake currency worth Rs 1.20 crore. The court of Rajeev Goyal, special NIA judge, also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each on the two convicts identified as Kasim, a resident of Nuh, and Nazmudin aka Nazmu, who hails from Delhi.While Kasim has been sentenced to an imprisonment of five years and 10 days, Nazmudin was ordered to spend four years and 10 days in jail. The two have been lodged at Bhondsi jail since their arrest in 2019. The incident dates back to May 2019 when Kasim was arrested with fake currency worth Rs 1.20 crore from Gurugram. The NIA arrested Nazmu in July 2019. Kasim was believed to be using Nazmu’s resources for communication.
