Leeds United looking to somehow make profit on multi-million-pound flop this summer – View
Leeds United are reportedly asking for £12.8million in order to sell Max Wöber after his Borussia Monchengladbach loan concludes.
Leeds could be in for a solid windfall from a handful of loaned out players in the summer window, as they jumped ship to move to top flight clubs in 2023 after relegation.
Max Wöber left the club to head to the Bundesliga in Germany, joining Daniel Farke’s former club Borussia Monchengladbach for the season.
Leeds asking for £12.8million for Max Wöber – Report
A report this week came from SportBild (via Sport Witness) sharing that Wöber’s chances of signing for Monchengladbach permanently have taken a significant turn for the worse.
Having previously been touted for a long-term deal with his loan club, it appears as though their summer rebuild is going to prioritise homegrown players, and Wöber is someone they are unlikely to retain.
What the report also shares is that Leeds are looking for a fee in the region of €15million (£12.8m) for him to leave the club in the summer.
Such a deal is not seen as one that Monchengladbach are that keen on ahead of the summer, currently sat 12th with the third-worst defensive record and 13 points adrift of European football places.
Leeds v Millwall predictions?
Leeds looking to make profit on Wöber this summer
The Austrian international joined Leeds in the January ’23 transfer window from Red Bull Salzburg, under then-manager Jesse Marsch.
Leeds paid around £10million to bring the defender to Elland Road, and with this recent update, it appears as though the Whites are looking at making a cool profit on him.
With the pressure ramping up on plenty of clubs at the top end of the Championship and bottom end of the Premier League to keep in line with FFP regulations, selling players for a profit is a huge boost, especially for Leeds after being unable to sell many in the summer window.
No matter the division Leeds find themselves in next season, they could be in line to make a solid amount from Wöber’s popularity at Monchengladbach.
