Leeds United on multi-million-pound transfer pursuit with European giants for right-back – Report
Leeds United are said to be one of five teams eyeing up Sunderland full-back Trai Hume ahead of the summer window, including Napoli.
The Whites have seven games remaining as they quest to finish in the automatic promotion places and return to the Premier League.
Potential jeopardy in the form of failing to get promoted means that Leeds may not be able to formulate concrete transfer plans ahead of time, though.
Leeds linked with move for Sunderland’s Trai Hume
A report from the Belfast Telegraph claims that Leeds are one of multiple sides that are keeping a close eye on Sunderland full-back Trai Hume.
Leeds don’t look in strong long-term shape on either side of their back four with Sam Byram (2024) and Junior Firpo (2025) on shrinking contracts while Connor Roberts is the club’s only natural right-back and is on loan.
Alongside Leeds, Leicester City from the Championship are also keen while Premier League duo Bournemouth and Aston Villa, along with Napoli in the Serie A.

Asking price revealed for Hume deal
What the report also points out is that the 22-year-old is going to command a fee in the region of £8million to depart the Stadium of Light in the summer.
His former club in Northern Ireland, Linfield, would be due 15% of the fee due to their sell-on clause included in the contract.
Hume a reliable Championship investment if true
Defensively, Hume would be a solid investment for Leeds in the back four, knowing he can do a good job on either side of the back four.
However, you’d be wondering how he’d fare stepping up to the Premier League, given we’d already be tested a great deal.
The fact that Bournemouth, Villa and Napoli are keen does pay a great compliment to Hume’s ability, with those three sides recruiting well in recent seasons.
