Stopping making of pennies not only solution to cash woes

play

A penny for your thoughts? Or is it 3.7 cents, the cost to produce and distribute a penny, for your thoughts?

Our beloved penny has recently come under attack. Production may even be halted. For now, the nickel has been spared despite it costing 13.8 cents to produce and distribute.

The solution could be twofold. First, set up and approve cash rounding, which would provide for a withdrawal of small-value coins like pennies and nickels for cash transactions. Second, design and produce a viable $1 coin. The Susan B. Anthony coin was a failed design. Try again. A dollar coin could replace the $1 greenback and be combined with higher production of the $2 bill.

Together with cash rounding, our currency issues can be solved.
