Ten Pound Poms season 2 cast in full as Michelle Keegan returns to BBC drama

Popular BBC drama Ten Pound Poms is returning to BBC One with a second series

The hit BBC series Ten Pound Poms is returning for a second spell following the success of its initial run in 2023. Fans can mark their calendars for Sunday, 9th March as the show resumes its weekly broadcast.

Set against the backdrop of Britons emigrating to Australia after World War II, the drama weaves fictional tales with factual history, thanks to creator Danny Brocklehurst’s penmanship.

Series two promises fresh narratives with the introduction of a new family, while familiar faces from the first series come back to our screens. Michelle Keegan as Kate and Nic English as Robbie reprise their roles, alongside Faye Marsay’s Annie, Warren Brown’s Terry, and Hattie Hook’s Pattie.

Joining the cast this season are Walter Stephen Curry as JJ, Emma Hamilton portraying Sheila Anderson, Leon Ford as Bill Anderson, with Finn Treacy, Sam Delich, Cheree Cassidy, and Rob Collins playing Peter, Ray, Marlene, and Ron respectively.

Additionally, the ensemble expands with Travis McMahon as Ivan, Declan Coyle as Stevie, Clare Hughes taking on Birdie, Marcus Graham as Benny Bates, Tina Bursill playing Mrs Walter, and Maya Stange as Maggie Skinner, reports Wales Online.

Excited about the newcomers, Danny Brocklehurst shared with the BBC, “We had to continue those stories forward and deal with them satisfactorily. But we also wanted to bring in new stories… We meet a new family who kickstart the new story that thrusts you across the next six episodes.”

Unveiling details about the fresh Skinner clan, he mentioned: “The Skinners are an Irish family who have travelled to Australia for a new start. The father and one son are mysteriously following on, so we initially only meet Maggie, Ray and Birdie.

“The three make an instant impact on our characters, especially Birdie who attracts the eye of young Peter. But soon, the family’s new lives down under are forever changed by an unforeseen event.”

The second season of Ten Pound Poms will deliver six hour-long episodes, set to broadcast weekly on BBC One.

Ten Pound Poms begins airing on BBC One on Sunday, 9 March at 8pm
