Everton takeover news LIVE – Vici Private Finance bid, Jarrad Branthwaite Man Utd talks, Castore
Dan Friedkin, the Roma owner, is interested in taking over Everton.. You can read more about the man himself here.
It raises the question about who will be the US billionaire’s priority if he does indeed end up buying out Farhad Moshiri – Roma or Everton.
It’s a question that Gazzetta dello Sport wondered this week, enlisting the help of Andrea Sartori, CEO and founder of Football Benchmark, who provide advice to football clubs.
Via Sport Witness, he spoke of the benefits of a multi-club model: “Synergies, information sharing, scouting. Being able to negotiate with sponsors on multiple markets, some of which are unattractive at certain levels. And then the trading of players, even if today with limitations, and their valorisation. At Red Bull they are masters: in five years 19 players have moved from Salzburg to Leipzig, two in reverse. You always need a dominant club.”
And who would that “dominant club” be?
Sartori continued: “Two clubs almost equivalent in terms of history, perception, exposure of the brand. And compared to other situations there is a higher risk of playing in the same European competition.”
And asked specifically about why Friedkin would be interested Everton, he said: “Maybe to enter the Premier League, but there are the big six there and competing with them is really tough. The stadium is certainly very attractive.”
