– Roger Morris
Financial Reporter has launched a new four-part Masterclass series covering all things buy-to-let with industry legend Roger Morris, beginning 12th June.

The series will explore everything a broker needs to know about buy-to-let from regulation to how to engage landlords and complex tax structures – with sessions covering:
• Understanding the changing landscape of buy-to-let (12th June),
• Structures of ownership (19th June),
• The definitive to houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) (26th June),
• Understanding bridging, holiday lets, let-to-buy and strategies for better landlord engagement (3rd July).
Brokers can sign up for the events, which are free-to-attend and carry CPD hours, here.
Morris, who has been in the industry for 30 years and has considerable experience in the buy-to-let market himself, will lead the sessions.
Morris said: “Since my redundancy, I’ve been inundated with calls asking complex questions and requests to relaunch my BTL Masterclass series. As I navigate through interviews and meetings in search of a new role, I’ve decided to rerun these classes. It’s the perfect way to utilise my time and give back to the industry I love.
“In today’s landscape, landlords seek comprehensive and technical advice, whether they are considering purchasing or refinancing buy-to-let properties, exploring specialist buy-to-let, HMO, or holiday let investments. While we recognise that neither you nor I are qualified to provide tax advice, it remains our responsibility to elucidate how tax structures function, their implications, and the unintended consequences if applied incorrectly.
“Consider this: Can you confidently engage in conversations regarding permitted development rights and their implications concerning Article 4 regulations? Do you grasp the distinctions between tenants in common and joint tenants? The potential tax implications of moving privately owned buy-to-lets into a limited company structure? How confident are you in assessing the needs of a portfolio landlord? Do you genuinely comprehend an SPV?
“The new four-part Masterclass series will cover all this and more, so we hope you can join us and gain some valuable insight into the modern buy-to-let market.”
Rozi Jones, editor of Financial Reporter, commented: “This is going to be a really valuable resource for brokers wanting to learn more about the buy-to-let market and we’re very pleased to be working with Roger and Crystal Specialist Finance to bring it together. The sessions are designed to cover a wide range of information relating to buy-to-let and we’re confident that brokers will come away from the sessions with a strong understanding of how to better help their landlord clients.”
