“Could be” | West Ham looking to benefit from Saudi investment
West Ham are hoping to benefit from massive Saudi spending at the end of the season, according to reports.
Unfortunately, West Ham have already felt the effects of having a limited budget in the January transfer window. While things may have improved now, their awful start to 2024 can largely be blamed on having insufficient depth for their absent players. Whether they could’ve afforded to actually bring someone in permanently is unknown, but it is obvious a massive Summer is now needed.
Thankfully, West Ham may be given the opportunity to do just that thanks to the financial powerhouse that is Saudi Arabia.
It seems like no team is safe from potentially losing key players to the Saudi Pro League but, in some circumstances, their seemingly endless supply of money can benefit those in Europe. Caught Offside reports that Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Maxwell Cornet and Michail Antonio could all move to the Middle East. All four of them are players that the Hammers could be looking to sell anyway, and being able to get significantly more money for them can only be a good thing.
If our Irons sold all of them for above their market value they could easily make £80 million which, you would hope, would go directly on replacements and with Tim Steidten at the wheel you can almost guarantee that it would be spent wisely – it could be the perfect time to start the rebuild.
