DataOne secures investment from US concrete firm

European data center firm DataOne has secured investment for its new US subsidiary from a concrete company.

DataOne USA, the newly formed North American venture of DataOne Group, has partnered with US concrete provider Northeast Precast.

Northeast Precast has taken a minority shareholder position in DataOne USA, though terms weren’t shared.

As part of the partnership, the companies aim to accelerate the construction of AI facilities across the US – though further details weren’t shared.

Northeast Precast will, however, be involved with DataOne’s recently announced facility in Vineland, New Jersey.

Charles-Antoine Beyney, CEO of DataOne, said: “I have been fortunate to start and successfully exit several businesses, so I know how to recognize extraordinary people. Driven, exceptionally smart, passionate, humble, and hardworking – this defines Lorie Ruga and John Ruga at Northeast Precast. It is an honor for Michael Ourabah, my business partner of 20 years and co-founder of BSO, the company DataOne emerged from, and me to welcome them as partners in our newly founded American data center venture. Thanks to Rob Faktorow and Henry Gray from CBRE for the introduction, we have not just secured the necessary land but also found extraordinary business partners.”

Northeast Precast is a US precast concrete manufacturer providing pre-cast concrete wall panels, columns, beams, and more.

John Ruga, CEO of Northeast Precast, added: “Our decision reflects a shared commitment to executing at blazing speeds, setting new industry standards, and meeting the evolving demands of AI-driven computing. Lorie and I are honored to join this incredible team led by Charles-Antoine Beyney and Michael Ourabah. Charles and Michael bring a passion and drive that we can truly relate to, just like our valued employees at Northeast Precast who have embraced every challenge that we’ve overcome the past 20 years.”

DataOne announced plans for a data center in Vineland earlier this month. The 300MW facility is set to host European cloud provider Nebius. The site will be powered in part by an unspecified behind-the-meter solution. The first phase is due live later this year.

Vineland mayor Anthony Fanucci said: “We are thrilled that DataOne USA and Northeast Precast have selected Vineland as a location to host their cutting-edge AI data center. It truly represents a new era of technology infrastructure.”

Infrastructure and connectivity provider BSO launched DataOne last year with the backing of Ardian. The company launched by taking over two sites in France from DXC – in Grenoble (Eybens) and Lyon (Villefontaine). It has also secured G42 as a customer for a planned expansion in Grenoble.

Founded in 2004, BSO has PoPs at more than 240 data centers across 33 countries. Its network includes more than 50 cloud on-ramps, 30 stock exchanges, and 150,000 miles of subsea fiber. As well as colocation services from ten sites, the company has a cloud offering – known as BSO Cloud.
