Trump delivers new $100 billion investment for America with much of it going to a key swing state: Recap

President Donald Trump said Monday that the chip-making giant TSMC will invest ‘at least’ $100 billion in the United States.

It will build ‘cutting edge’ chip manufacturing facilities.

It was the latest blockbuster financial pledge by a private company since his return to office in January.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co’s new investment will come on top of their existing commitments of around $65 billion.

It will go into ‘building five cutting edge fabrication facilities,; Trump said during a White House event flanked by TSMC’s chief executive, C.C. Wei.

He added that much of the funding would be invested in the US state of Arizona, where TSMC – the world’s largest chipmaker – has already invested heavily, and would create ‘many thousands’ of high-paying jobs.

Melania Trump will hold her first solo event as first lady on Monday afternoon when she’s on Capitol Hill to host a roundtable discuss in support legislation aimed at protecting people from deepfake and revenge pornography.

Women such as Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and many celebrities have been targeted by revenge porn and deep fakes.

The first lady will focus the conversation on the TAKE IT DOWN Act, which increases protections for victims of non-consensual sharing of sexual images known as ‘revenge pornography’ and that includes content generated by artificial intelligence, also known as deepfake porn.

It also requires websites to make a reasonable effort to remove the images within 48 hours of a complaint being filed.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, the bill’s sponsor, and other GOP lawmakers are scheduled to join the first lady.

Melania Trump will be back on Capitol Hill on Tuesday night for President Donald Trump’s Joint Address to Congress. She’ll hosts guests in her box in the House chamber.
