A woman who had her ­application for a cost-rental apartment rejected because she did not meet the ­affordability ­criteria has said the housing crisis is leaving people with no option but to emigrate.

Jess Ní Mhaoláin (31) works as a ­policy adviser to Sinn Féin TD Martin Kenny, earns a ­decent wage and has always been able to pay her monthly rent.
