Aussie fashion designer Camilla Franks snaps up historic five-bedroom Bondi property for $12.5million
Fashion designer Camilla Franks has purchased a historic property in Bondi, Sydney for $12.5million.
The Kaftan queen, 47, finalised the sale on Tuesday and is now the proud owner of the five bedroom, three bathroom home that was built in 1908.
The lavish estate, known as Gnal Loa, sits on just over a 1000sqm and is surrounded by flourishing gardens.
Its desirable location is close to a variety of amenities, including Bondi Beach, and a host of restaurants and bars.
‘The name of this property means “the sitting spot” and I love that. The gardens feel like I’m in the Southern Highlands, but the sea is on my doorstep,’ Franks said in a statement.
‘It just felt right. It felt like home. This is a new chapter, I’m so excited to create new memories in this 1900s beauty. She has charm, personality and history.’
In December, Franks reportedly split from her artist fiancé JP Jones after seven years of dating.
The couple’s relationship is said to have become strained as they spent less and less time together, reports The Saturday Telegraph.
Franks and Jones, who share five-year-old daughter Luna, first met in London more than 25 years ago before reuniting and beginning a relationship in 2016.
They divided their time between Australia and Jones’ home country of Wales, as his son Blue lives in the UK.
The pair first planned to marry in 2017 in India; however, they put their wedding on hold when they found out the kaftan designer was pregnant.
Before Franks was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, they had tentative plans to tie the knot in 2020 – but never made it down the aisle.
Jones supported Franks as she battled cancer, after receiving the devastating news just four months following the birth of their daughter.
Franks rose to prominence after founding the now multimillion-dollar bohemian attire label Camilla 14 years ago.
