Chard in Somerset is new property hotspot as house sales double
The historic market town of Chard in Somerset has not been regarded previously as a fashionable destination for house hunters, but rather as the base of a factory for Henry vacuum cleaners.
Yet Chard has been named as the top housing hotspot after the number of homes sold there more than doubled last year.
Chard has been boosted by an uplift in demand for detached homes as the postcode boasts a large number of four-bedroom houses. The number of agreed sales have risen by 123 per cent, according to the Rightmove property site. The town’s housing stock also remains relatively affordable, with asking prices averaging £245,202, compared with £383,889 across the wider southwest.
