Data Army unveils new dataset for property market insights
Data Army, an Australian data consultancy specialising in advanced data solutions, has expanded its offerings with the introduction of the Australia Post Movers Statistics dataset. Unveiled by Data Army’s sub-brand, The Proptech Cloud, this new data set aims to empower businesses operating within the property and real estate sectors.
The Proptech Cloud is a community designed to support businesses by providing access to real estate information, data, and applications. The Australia Post Movers Statistics dataset is now available on the Snowflake Marketplace, ensuring seamless access with zero ETL (extract, transform, and load) requirements, making it ready for immediate querying.
The dataset, updated monthly, includes five years of de-identified, aggregated information. This enables users to analyse and gain insights into location planning by identifying neighbourhoods experiencing growth or decline based on migration trends. Additionally, it aids in estimating market demand for products and services and supports real estate and housing market analysis.
A recent analysis by Data Army, published by The Proptech Cloud, demonstrates the utility of this dataset in extracting valuable insights through Snowflake Cortex’s artificial intelligence and machine learning service. The publication showcases how users can visualise migration patterns and predict future moves across Australia using this technology.
The data set is highly valuable for both the public and private sectors in strategic planning and decision-making processes. Potential applications include real estate development, investment, business expansion, transportation and infrastructure decisions, and urban and land use planning. It is also useful for informing policy, healthcare, and public service planning.
Michael Ogilvie, Director of Data Army, stated, “We launched The Proptech Cloud to foster a data-driven community and empower businesses and organisations that work with property data to enhance analysis, problem-solving, and collaboration. Our goal is to support users in developing innovative solutions to complex problems.”
The Proptech Cloud initiative aims to eliminate barriers to accessing property domain knowledge, data, and insights. By leveraging Data Army’s industry expertise, the platform offers a range of datasets and apps curated from various providers, many of which are freely available on the Snowflake Marketplace.
The Australia Post Movers Statistics dataset is a paid offering supported by a comprehensive how-to guide, facilitating a range of insights for location planning and decision-making. It is designed to preserve privacy with robust data governance and enables collaboration across different clouds and regions, all on a single, streamlined platform.
Ogilvie emphasised the new offering’s benefits, stating, “The core benefit is that the complexity traditionally associated with using large and constantly changing data sets is eliminated. Consistent, accurate, and valuable data is readily available.”
The availability of this dataset on the Snowflake Marketplace also supports Data Army’s mission to democratise data, providing on-demand access to valuable insights that guide organisational decision-making.
