Last freehold property at Gloucester Quays goes up for sale

Gloucester-based manufacturing company Numold has announced it is selling its premises at Gloucester Docks, which is the last freehold property in the vicinity of Gloucester Quays.

Located in a prime spot opposite Cineworld and Five Guys in the Quays’ food quarter, Numold says there has already been interest in buying the property, which it describes as having the potential to become ‘the jewel in the crown’ of the site’s waterside living area.

It comes with plans already in place for the development of neighbouring waterfront properties, with the surrounding Baker’s Quay buildings being brought back to life as apartments including the creation of the new landmark, 10-storey Downings Tower building.

Situated on Merchants Road, the property is opposite Llanthony Priory on the other side of the canal and boasts the historic docks as its backdrop.

Numold, which manufactures and exports concrete moulds for the construction industry, has been based at the site since 1993.

The company says operating from the middle of a shopping centre that was built around them in 2003 has been ‘challenging’, with its large lorries frequently accessing the site to transport its products for shipping all over the world.

Owner of Numold, Sue Jones, said: ‘It will be interesting to see who will make this prime location
something Gloucester will be proud of, perhaps a boutique hotel with waterfront restaurant and apartments
with balconies with the beautiful sunsets over Llanthony Priory — watch this space’.
