Longford Cllr says property tax unlikely to be reduced next year

Property tax is unlikely to be reduced in Co Longford next year, according to a longstanding Fianna Fáil councillor. Local councillors can increase or reduce local property tax, by up to 15 per cent, from the basic rate set nationally.

Longford councillors have set the rate at 15 per cent above the basic rate for the past five years. The rate for 2025 will be set at their meeting next month – but Councillor Seamus Butler says no change is likely:
