Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Indian stock market saw a volatile session on Wednesday (August 28) as the Nifty 50 index achieved a new milestone by closing higher for the tenth consecutive session, marking its longest gaining streak in four years.

The index briefly crossed the 25,100 mark for the first time, reaching an intra-day record high of 25,130 before settling at 25,052, up 35 points. The Sensex, too, reclaimed the 82,000 mark during trading but failed to hold on to it, closing at 81,786, a modest gain of 74 points.

The broader market displayed a mixed performance, with the Midcap Index slipping into the red after touching a record high of 59,412, ending the day at 59,146, down 74 points.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT and Pharma stood out, hitting record highs and closing with gains of 1-2%. However, the FMCG and Financials sectors were the major drags, with Asian Paints and Axis Bank emerging as the top Nifty losers.
