Stock Market LIVE: Sensex down 150 pts; Auto, PSBs rally, IT shares weak | News on Markets
Stock market live updates: Equity benchmark indices recouped intra-day losses in Tuesday’s trade, led by gains in PSU Banks and auto shares. IT, however, were trading on a weak note after CLSA downgraded select stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex, which, hit an intra-day low of 73,412, was quoting 50-odd points lower at 73,800. The NSE Nifty 50 was seen quoting atop 22,350 levels.
Power Grid, HCL Tech, TCS, ICICI Bank, L&T, Sun Pharma led losses on the Sensex. On the flip side, Tata Motors soared 5 per cent and crossed Rs 1,000-mark, leading gains among largecaps, on announcing plan to demerge and separately list its CV and PV businesses. M&M, NTPC, UPL, Apollo Bharti Airtel were among the other frontline gainers.
The broader markets were also tepid. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were nearly flat versus losses in BSE Sensex. Nifty Auto index led gains among sectors, up 1.5 per cent. Realty, PSU Bank pockets were other top winners. Nifty IT dipped the most by nearly 1 per cent.
