Stock market LIVE: Sensex zooms 500 pts, hits record high; m-cap of BSE firms hit Rs 4-trillion mark | News on Markets

Stock market LIVE updates on April 8, 2024: Equity benchmark indices were holding their gains in Monday’s intraday tarde aided by strong global cues and buying in index heavyweights. The S&P BSE Sensex hit a record high of 74,751, while the Nifty50 hit 22,656 level. Both the indices were up around 500 points and 141 points, respectively. 

Maruti Suzuki, M&M, Reliance Ind, JSW Steel, Axis Bank, L&T, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Fiserv, Tata Steel, TCS, and ITC led the gains on the Sensex, while Nestle India, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Wipro, and Baja Finance were the top losers. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap was up 0.6 pe cent, and the BSE SmallCap was up 0.3 per cent.

Nifty Realty, Nifty Consumer Durables, Nifty Metal and Nifty Oil and Gas lead sectoral gains rising between 0.65 per cent to 1.79 per cent.
