[STOCK MARKET UPDATE] European stock markets rebound after yesterday’s drop

Share

After yesterday’s sharp decline, European stock markets regained ground on Thursday morning. The CAC 40 opened sharply higher, buoyed by a relative easing of geopolitical fears following statements by Donald Trump suggesting a possible resumption of dialogue with Iran.

Despite this technical rebound, investors remain cautious, given the evolving conflict in the Middle East and fluctuations in oil prices…

In Paris, the CAC 40 was up about 0.8% at the open, recouping some of the 2.18% lost on Wednesday. Frankfurt was also up 0.7%, while London was down 0.4%. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index gained nearly 0.7%, a sign of a gradual return of risk appetite.

Donald Trump’s statements ease tensions

The renewed optimism in Europe stems mainly from remarks by Donald Trump, who indicated that Tehran had reestablished contact with Washington and was seeking to reach an agreement. These comments helped temporarily ease investor concerns following Wednesday’s trading session, which was marked by the announcement of new U.S. strikes against Iranian targets and the end of the temporary ceasefire.
