In recent years, the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem has progressed at an astonishing pace. Various inscriptions, ordinals, and NFTs have surged in popularity, and forks have become increasingly common—just recently, @BTCdrivechains announced a fork to distribute a new coin, ECX, as an airdrop to Bitcoin holders. I still remember entering the space in July 2017 during the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork, when I received a 1:1 airdrop of BCH worth thousands of US dollars.

Simply put, eCash is a new blockchain directly hard-forked from Bitcoin. It fully inherits Bitcoin’s entire historical data and uses it as a testing ground for technological implementation. The project plans to launch officially in August 2026. Anyone holding Bitcoin in their wallet before block height 964,000 (August 22, 2026) will receive an equal amount of the new eCash tokens—a completely free airdrop for Bitcoin holders.

The project’s founder, @Truthcoin, may not be familiar to you, but he spent over a decade trying to integrate a technology called Drivechain into Bitcoin Core—without success. (For context: Bitcoin Core refers to the core software protocol that maintains Bitcoin’s consensus rules; Drivechain is a proposed sidechain technology that would allow developers to create an unlimited number of sidechains with customizable rules within the Bitcoin ecosystem.)

Paul Sztorc believed that rather than continue trying to convince Bitcoin Core developers, it would be more effective to simply fork the chain and launch Drivechain in practice—to prove its viability through real-world operation. Now, he is leading the team behind eCash to test this technology by running the chain live, hoping to encourage the Bitcoin community to take this direction seriously once again.

Over the years, very few projects in the Bitcoin ecosystem have dared to use hard forks to test new ideas. Once the chain launches in August, users can observe its on-chain performance firsthand before deciding whether to engage deeply. If you wish to claim the airdrop, simply ensure your Bitcoin is held in a self-custodial wallet and wait for the distribution. If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to share—after all, Bitcoin’s future depends on collective experimentation and validation.

This project is still in its early stages—please assess the risks yourself.
