Investor Highlights New Quantum Threat to Bitcoin

Andrew Gault warns of quantum threats to Bitcoin infrastructure.

Early quantum technology investor Andrew Gault stated that the primary risk to Bitcoin infrastructure is not the hacking of wallet keys, but rather the interception of encrypted traffic between exchanges, custodians, and banks using a “collect now, decrypt later” scheme. Meanwhile, Google has planned a transition to post-quantum cryptography by 2029.
