As Trump weaponises the American dollar, digital currency awaits

As an increasingly erratic American government weaponises the US dollar against its enemies — and even its own allies — the world is looking to de-dollarisation more than ever before. The issue, however, as Crikey reported last week, is that there’s no natural successor to the global dominance of the USD. 

While it’s unlikely the dollar will be beaten at its own game, other technologies are waiting in the wings that may leapfrog the fiat (traditional money) system to become the global medium of exchange in a new digital age.
