Bruce Forsyth was once one of the most popular names in the TV industry. The TV star, who had been active in the industry since he was a mere 11-year-old boy, left his gigantic mansion to his widow, Lady Wilnelia, where the two resided until his passing in 2017. Though Wilnelia sold the property in 2020 and moved on, it remains barren to this date.
About Bruce Forsyth’s property
Located on the Wentworth estate, the Surrey mansion, known as Straidarran, was once the home of Forsyth and his partner. However, according to reports from The Sun, the grand house has been empty since it was sold in 2020. The space featured many personalized amenities, including a ten-seat cinema, swimming pool, tennis court, gym, library, and wine cellar. The main part of the house still features the telltale “F” to signify that it was under Forsyth’s ownership for decades until his passing. Warning signs for intruders and passersby have also been installed across the property. A statement from the outlet’s report read, “Normally overseas owners on the estate knock these old homes down and build a new one. So it is a very strange situation with Bruce’s old home, where seemingly nothing has happened since Wilnelia sold it six years ago.”Other than the house remaining abandoned and empty, reports of break-ins have also increased over the past couple of years. Another statement read, “The only thing I have noticed is that security is present there; the owners certainly aren’t, but that only followed break-ins.” Wentworth Estate manager James Perotin had also issued a previous statement about the matter, stating that because of the continuous security issues, the property was under 24/7 surveillance. “Security has been increased at Bruce Forsyth’s old house; there is now a van permanently on site, and it is monitored 24 hours a day,” his statement read.
About Lady Wilnelia
In April 2020, Forsyth’s wife sold the mansion and downsized to a smaller home for a quieter lifestyle. Later on, she bought another property on the same estate area worth GBP 3 million. Lady and Bruce were married since 1983 and stayed by each other’s side until he passed away at the age of 89 after complications from bronchial pneumonia.
