KATHMANDU: High-level discussions were held on August 8 between Health and Food Hygiene Minister Nisha Mehta and a Gavi delegation led by Senior Country Manager Nilgun Aydogan to map out strategic cooperation for 2027–2030.

During the meeting, Gavi proposed providing USD 39.6 million worth of vaccines alongside an additional USD 18.06 million in cash grants over the four-year period, while Nepal would contribute USD 17.1 million in co-financing.

Since 2001, Gavi has invested over USD 550 million into Nepal’s healthcare system and currently co-funds five of the eleven vaccines under the National Immunization Programme.

Against a backdrop of declining global development assistance, both sides emphasized establishing long-term financial sustainability for Nepal’s national immunization efforts moving forward.
