Three illegal currency dealers arrested

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the illegal currency exchange business of hundi and recovered foreign currency worth Rs1 million.

The spokesman of FIA said here that Composite Circle Mardan and Commercial Banking Circle Peshawar arrested the suspects identified as Farmanullah, Salman Khan and Jamshed Khan.The accused were doing currency exchange business in Swabi, Takhtbhai tehsil in Mardan and Chowk Yadgar in Peshawar without licence.

During the arrests, FIA teams seized a significant amount of foreign currency, including 634 Saudi riyals, 166 US dollars, 50 Qatari riyals, and 50 euros, along with Rs 929,000 in Pakistani rupees.

Additionally, evidence related to hundi transactions was found in the possession of the accused.A spokesperson for the FIA stated that the arrested individuals were under interrogation, and further arrests were anticipated.
