DLA Piper Appoints Rob McClean As London Partner To Expand Fund Finance Practice

Share

DLA Piper announced the appointment of Rob McClean as a partner in the firm’s Finance practice based in London, effective immediately.

McClean joins DLA Piper from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he served as Special Counsel focused on fund finance transactions across the UK and European markets.

His practice includes advising international financial institutions, investment banks, and alternative investment platforms on subscription line facilities, NAV financing, hybrid structures, and GP facilities.

DLA Piper said the appointment strengthens the firm’s global fund finance capabilities amid growing demand for private capital financing solutions and increasingly complex fund structures.

McClean will work alongside former Cadwalader colleagues Katie McShane and Jonny Byrne-Leitch as part of DLA Piper’s New York-London fund finance team.

The company said the hire is part of a broader expansion strategy across its global Finance and Capital Markets practices, which recently included multiple senior appointments across London, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Washington, DC, New York, and Los Angeles.

DLA Piper noted that rising liquidity demands among sponsors and evolving financing structures such as NAV facilities are contributing to increased activity within the fund finance market.

The firm’s International Finance practice recently advised clients on transactions including bond issuances, securitizations, private equity fund formations, hybrid investments, and financing programs across Europe and international markets.

KEY QUOTES:

“Growth in private capital and the increasing sophistication of fund structures, alongside greater liquidity needs among sponsors, are driving a steady flow of complex, high-value transactions.”

“Rob’s appointment will therefore significantly bolster our fund finance offering, allowing us to be more competitive and elevate our offering.”

“His skill set will also enhance the UK team’s ability to support cross-border matters, including financing work linked to evolving structures such as NAV facilities, which are becoming increasingly relevant to our clients.”

Colin Wilson, International Group Head Of Finance Practice, DLA Piper
