Strong H1 deal activity as regional businesses attract buyer competition - Bishop Fleming

Bishop Fleming’s Corporate Finance team has completed a series of sell-side transactions in the first half of 2026.

The accountancy, tax and advisory firm said activity reflected continued strong buyer demand for specialist, well-positioned UK businesses, despite a selective deal-making environment.  

The firm’s Corporate Finance experts have seen activity spanning sectors including technology, logistics, hospitality and infrastructure. Buyers are competing for assets that offer specialist capability, clear strategic value and attractive long-term growth prospects.

In the first half of 2026, the firm advised on multiple lead advisory, sell-side deals, with particularly strong activity in technology and technology-enabled businesses. 

Strong demand continued from strategic and international buyers, which was said to demonstrate the ongoing appeal of specialist UK businesses with resilient earnings and clear growth opportunities.  

“Our H1 activity shows that the UK M&A market remains very much open for strategic, disciplined and well-prepared businesses,” said Taj Lalli, Corporate Finance Partner and Head of Automotive at Bishop Fleming. 

“Buyers may be more selective, but competition is still intense for businesses that can clearly demonstrate strategic relevance, specialist capability and a credible growth story. For owners considering an exit over the next 12-36 months, early preparation and defensible market positioning are becoming critical to securing the best possible outcomes.”

Amongst the H1 transactions which Bishop Fleming’s Corporate Finance team advised on were the sales of Kings Heavy Haulage to Groupe Capelle in France, Dart Marina Group to Premier Marinas, Brightwell Systems to Bohr Group and Motasoft to ClearCourse. 

Buyers, across these deals, focused not only on earnings but also on strategic fit, market position and long-term growth prospects.  

Bishop Fleming has nine offices spanning from the West Midlands to the South West, with 59 partners and more than 500 staff.
