CS orders direct vigilance to ensure regular supply of essential commodities

Dehradun, 29 May: Chief Secretary (CS) Anand Bardhan chaired a review meeting of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department at the Secretariat here today regarding the availability and pricing of foodgrains and daily essential commodities in the state. During the meeting, Bardhan sought detailed information from Food Commissioner BL Rana on the current status of essential items and their price trends across Uttarakhand.

On this occasion, the CS directed the departments concerned to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities at fair prices for the general public through continuous and regular monitoring. He instructed that strict vigilance be maintained on the supply and pricing of food items, diesel, petrol, LPG and other consumer essentials so that citizens do not face any inconvenience.

He also issued strict directions that strict action must be taken against elements indulging in black marketing, hoarding or creating artificial scarcity of essential goods. For this purpose, he directed that inspection drives be conducted regularly by the departments concerned, with checks on markets, warehouses and wholesale traders to ensure compliance.

Bardhan further reiterated that the state government is fully committed to providing relief to the people and maintaining smooth market arrangements. He emphasised that special attention must be given to districts connected with the Char Dham Yatra and towards ensuring availability and price control of essential commodities. He further instructed that any irregularity detected should be dealt with immediate and effective action.

On this occasion, Food Commissioner BL Rana, Chief Marketing Officer Dr Ms Visen, Regional Marketing Officer CM Ghildiyal, and Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Rawat were also present.
