South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray and his fiancee Miranda Cross secured the sale last week at an undisclosed price of their resort-style Matraville duplex investment offering.

Designed by architect Walter Barda, it sold to a local family after about 130 groups came through the property.

NG Farah’s Cameron Airlie listed it in February with $4m guidance, which was nudged up to $4.2m and then $4.3m.

Murray and his fiance Miranda Cross, and daughter Avalon, moved into their new home late last year and then they moved to sell next door.

The stunning five-bedroom duplex was designed by acclaimed architect Walter Barda, who is best known for his trophy homes across pricey Sydney.

Murray and Cross, who have been together for a decade, and engaged since 2023, paid $3.1m for an original four-bedroom home with a pool on its 740 sqm block in 2022.

It was their first property purchase together.

Inside the three level home there has been extensive use of travertine, marble and oak.

Blending within its irrigated landscaping on its 365sq m lot, its facade features charred Japanese timber and sandstone.

There is a breezeway on entry which flows to the dining kitchen and living area with a gas fireplace, marble bullnose island, cocktail bar, and a garden atrium.

The living space opens to a sheltered alfresco patio with built-in BeefEater barbecue.

The terrace steps down to a landscaped lawn and a mineral pool, wrapped in decks and fringed in palms. Four of the five bedrooms are upstairs, including a master with an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and balcony.

Murray was a first homebuyer in 2019 when he spent $1.25m on a two-bedroom apartment in Clovelly. The second-rower sold it just over 12 months ago for $2.2m.

Murray, who played his junior footy at Mascot Jets, is under contract with the Rabbitohs until the end of the 2028 season.

“I’ve still got a lot that I want to achieve in the NRL,” the 28-year-old told his former teammate Josh Mansour on the Unscripted podcast during the off season.

“I’m still chasing a grand final, so that’s definitely on the list, and I definitely want to achieve that before even thinking about what’s next.”
