30-year fixed mortgage rate declines to 6.23% this week

The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is 6.23% as of April 23, 2026, down from 6.30% the prior week and 6.81% a year earlier, according to Freddie Mac.

The average rate on a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage is 5.58%, down from 5.65% the prior week and 5.94% a year earlier.
