CII welcomes Punjab reforms, says relief to industry & trade

Share

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has lauded the Punjab Government’s announcement providing significant relief to industry and trade through a major reduction in stamp duty and registration fees on equitable mortgages.

The move, which includes a single 0.25% stamp duty on the total loan amount (capped at Rs 5 lakh) and a sharp reduction in registration fee on equitable mortgage from Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 1,000, is being hailed as a landmark step towards improving ease of doing business in Punjab.

The measure is expected to benefit over 14 lakh MSMEs across the state, providing a substantial boost to credit access, liquidity and overall business confidence.

Amit Jain, Chairman, CII Punjab and Managing Director, Shingora Textiles, said: “CII Punjab appreciates the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora for addressing one of the long-standing demands of industry. “
