Replacement property proposed at Padworth Common

West Berkshire Council is currently considering a revised residential application at Padworth Common.

Mr and Mrs Dilen Patel have applied for permission to demolish and build a replacement property – with a garage and tennis court – at Burnt Pine, in Reading Road.

The site currently consists of an existing large bungalow set back from the road, with a nearby residential annexe and other outbuildings, sheds and greenhouses.

Vehicular access from Reading Road will remain unchanged.

A spokesperson for Aldermaston Parish Council said: “We agreed the design was more appropriate than the last application, which had been approved.

“On the basis there had been no adverse reaction from neighbours, we agreed to repeat our position of no objection.”

The district’s highways team recommended the proposal for conditional approval, requesting an electric vehicle charging point be added with a minimum of 7kw.

The council approved the couple’s previous application for a proposed two-storey extension to the original bungalow in April 2022.

It is due to decide on the current application on Thursday, April 25.
