Stock Market LIVE: Broader indices, Adani, Rail shares up in volatile trade | News on Markets

Stock market LIVE updates on Wednesday, May 15, 2024: Indian equities, whcih started with decent gains on Wednesday, took a sharp U-turn within an hour of opening. The S&P BSE Sensex from a high of 73,301, dropped to a low of 72.823, and was down 150 points at 72,950 levels. The NSE Nifty 50 was quoting around 22,200 levels.  

The benchmarks were dragged by JSW Steel, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, Eicher Motors, Britannia Industries, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, Tata Consumer, and HUL.

In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap, and SmallCap indices continued to hold onto their gains and were up 0.5 per cent, and 0.7 per cent, respectively.  

Sectorally, the Nifty PSU Bank index rose 1.75 per cent, followed by the Nifty Realty index (1.2 per cent). On the dowside, the Nifty Auto, Bank, and FMCG indices slipped up to 0.75 per cent.
