FCC hands Voxbeam USD 4.5 bln penalty over unauthorised foreign provider calls

The Federal Communications Commission has provisionally imposed a USD 4.5 million penalty on US-based call termination provider Voxbeam, after an investigation found Voxbeam processed inbound call traffic from a Czech client carrying spoof phone numbers mimicking major US banks. The proposed fine is a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture, which serves as a formal allegation advising an investigated company of a legal breach and the proposed monetary penalty.
